Chemical Synapses

The word "synapse" comes from "synaptein", which Sir Charles Scott Sherrington and colleagues coined from the Greek "syn-" ("together") and "haptein" ("to clasp").

Chemical synapses are specialized junctions through which neurons signal to each other and to non-neuronal cells such as those in muscles or glands. Chemical synapses allow neurons to form circuits within the central nervous system. They are crucial to the biological computations that underlie perception and thought. They allow the nervous system to connect to and control other systems of the body.

Synapx Technology

Synapx is the layer of code that bridges the operating system on a computer with an application. Synapx allows the same, operating system independant, code to run on all operating systems by accessing only system resources (i.e. screen, memory, mouse, hard drive); while providing a common look and feel across the machines in question.

Synapx is a very light weight and fast C++ library. It does not use any proproetary environments such as .net, COM, or ATL. Instead it sits directly above the core OS functions. 90% of the C++ user interface works directly on all operating systems, which means that a very small amount of code is actually written specific to any one OS.
